It was one of the most fun nights I've ever had at Fabio Novaes BJJ!
I got thrown about 40 times and got utterly destroyed by everyone I grappled, but it was all in good fun, and in spite of the ass beatings and throws, I've never felt more like part of the team.
And yes... I am competing in the Open still... as a blue belt.
I had no idea I would be until about a week ago... hence my insanity, self doubt, and general terror.
However, I'm over it.. I'm going to go, do the best that I can do, and that will just have to be enough. =)
If I lose, I lose.
If I win.
All the better for me!
One funny thing happened though... After my first grapple, my belt came off.. and I stood there looking for it for a good five or six seconds before I realized... I couldn't find it, because I was looking for a white belt. =)
... I also feel it necessary to say... I under no circumstances feel like I should be wearing a blue belt... However, I am over joyed that Fabio thinks I should be.
Congratulations Stephanie! :D
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your blue belt! You never feel like it's time for you to get your new belt, that feeling will be there when you get your purple too. It's only your instructors opinion that counts. Have no fear going into the tournament as a blue belt, you will be fine. Congratulations again!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Steph!! You deserve it!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!!
ReplyDelete@Rollo I felt like asking... "Uhhh... are you sure?!" when Fabio informed of me the belt graduation. lol
Congrats, Stephanie, you look good in blue! :-)
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling. When I got my purple belt I was thinking "yeah right". I found that it takes a couple weeks to sink in. Same as when I got my blue belt. Have fun, and enjoy your promotion.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gina! I look best in black. lol .... though, I'm gunna have to wait a reeeeaaaaalllly long time for that one. hehehe
ReplyDeleteRollo - I'll let you know if I ever get to that point. lol
Congrats! Remember to spend the first month terrorizing all of the whitebelts to keep them in their place!
ReplyDeleteahhhh so awesome!! Congrats!! Activate blue belt beast mode!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! Wear it with pride. But don't feel you need to justify it to anyone, not even to yourself. Take it easy and continue to enjoy the journey.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!

ReplyDelete@Kirsch - Thank you!!

ReplyDelete@Fenix - Thank you! Honestly to me the journey is the best part. I love the vastness of Jiu-jitsu. I will never know it all... I can always move forward. It's kind of fun when I think about it that way. And thank you!
