Woohoo!

Tonight I got my second stripe!

And like I always, I am happy Fabio thinks I deserves a stripe, and decidedly against receiving said stripe.

One of my favorite training partners got a stripe too, and in all honesty I am happier for her than for myself.  I love her to death, and she totally 100% deserves it!

Erica America!!

Jimmy, one of my good friends, got his first stripe as a purple belt tonight as well.  Congrats Jimmy!  Well deserved!  ....and then we made him an honorary girl and included him in our post class excessive picture taking.
You make a lovely lady, Jimmy.  Hope it wasn't too awkward for you!  haha =)

And I still fail at the whole being serious portion of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.  Good thing Fabio doesn't seem to care.

And congrats to Eddie, Cruz, Little Cruz, Gary x2, and Raul!

My belt has a mind of it's own.

My belt demoted me.

It can feel my suckiness, and my stripes have begun to merge together.

I should be offended by my belts lack of faith in me, but I just think it is funny.  I'm not going to be too worried about it though, unless my belt starts to choke me on it's own accord.

In other news, Zaile has been bugging me relentlessly to take me with her to Fabio's.  She is only three, and I know she is not ready for that yet.  With her attention span, general tininess, lack of control and failure to understand what tapping means I know she isn't ready.  But that doesn't mean she can't go to Barn-jitsu!  I can keep here there as long as her attention span will allow, and send her back inside when she is finished.  I don't have to worry about her misbehaving and disrupting class.

I'm only going to teach her movements, like hip outs and rolls, and positions.  If she is still interested when she is older then she will have a leg up, and if not... then oh well.  It is quality time with her, and good exercise.  Plus, it is super cute!

Good news!

My rib is well enough to grapple, which means, NAGA is a go!

I can feel it when I take deep breaths, bend certain ways, and when I pull things with my left arm.  But I can grapple with it.

I am on pace to make it to lightweight by February 13th.

I also found out that the April NAGA was cancelled, but there is a Grapplers Quest tournament that same weekend.  So, I can still compete for my birthday!  Woohooo!

AND - I have decided on a gi.  http://www.fenomkimonos.com/  I just have to stop dumping all my extra money into competitions so I can afford one.  hehe

I fall slightly out of the size range, but I love their gis, and I love their message.

I also got a second stripe last night.  =) .. and for the second time, I have mixed feelings...  Proud that my instructor thinks I deserve a stripe, but also undeserving and embarrassed.  It is an interesting combination of emotions.  lol
